La Lucha por la Vida: Struggle for Life
For this piece, devalued paper currency bills from many countries that were no longer in circulation were used to illustrate people’s relationships with money. Written in both Spanish and English, the piece explores the role money plays in everyday life, the power it exerts and the strange way it dictates life’s circumstances. Linda Neilson provided the English translations. By drawing directly onto the bills and using silkprint digital inkjet printing, each copy became unique, although part of an edition of 40. The book is bound with stab binding on hard covers. The New York State Council on the Arts funded the project.
