One Night
One Night was made out of a single sheet of paper in a book structure affectionately known as a “hot dog” book. Its text is an explosion of sound-words, including large “O”s, guttural expressions, such as “AwRr,” and ambient noises, including “zOaf.” The piece was letterpress printed from wood type and the text features large sans serif letters in varying point sizes. Amora paper was used for the text and a handmade paper was used for the cover. The double-sided accordion fold is pamphlet stitched into gray printed covers.
Arist John Risseeuw teaches courses in Fine Printing and Bookmaking, Papermaking, Artists’ Books, and Photo Processes for Printmaking at Arizona State University, Tempe.
