Epicenter
Pandora’s Box
For the first publication of Epicenter, the press of Columbia College Chicago Center for Book and Paper Arts, 50 artists were invited to consider the theme of “Pandora’s box.” The story tells of the mythological character who opened a forbidden box and released all the ills in the world, along with hope. The prints are housed in a wooden poplar box finished with a black stain and clear lacquer. The lid is attached with recessed hinges.
When the Columbia College Chicago Center for Book and Paper Arts was established in 1994, its threefold mission was to educate, exhibit and publish in the realm of book and paper arts. Epicenter is the publishing endeavor of the Center. Its mission is to publish unusual, elegant, pithy, artful and well-crafted books, multiples and ephemera.
